Being the first female to break the glass ceiling in any industry or organization is a cause for celebration. At Female Firsts, not only do we celebrate these career trailblazers, but highlight the woman behind the achievement and their journey that got them where they are today. These inspirational women sit down with EMMY Award winning journalist, Cathleen Trigg-Jones to reveal the ingredients that are needed for women to rise to unthinkable levels. In addition, each female first will uncover the trials and tribulations of being the only woman at the top and maintaining a leadership position.

Dr. Gibbs is a Professor of Radiation Oncology and Professor of Neurosurgery and Associate Dean for Medical Student Admissions at Stanford University School of Medicine. She is a champion of diversity and inclusion and was the First African American woman to be a resident in Stanford University’s medical program. She shares how she kept a strong mindset while overcoming challenges and obstacles.

Cathleen Trigg-Jones interviews CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC Alicia Guevara on this episode of "Female Firsts." Alicia Guevara is the first woman, first black woman, and first hispanic woman to lead BBBSNYC. Guevara is a passionate youth mentor and works hard to be a good example for the children in her life. She believes positive mentors and youth engagement is the key to success in a young person’s life. Guevara is part of the first female graduating classes at Barnard University and is a graduate of Columbia University with an executive education certificate from the Columbia Business School. On this episode, Alicia details her journey to get to where she is now and how it feels to be so many firsts.
