- Cancer Awareness In Our Communities
- 2021
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, hosts Tamika D. Mallory and Mysonne "The General" dedicate this episode to raising awareness about cancer in the Black community. Black people have the highest mortality rate of any racial and ethnic group for all cancers combined. Cancer has been said to be the second leading cause of death in the United States. Although cancer can aggressively lead to mortality, fortunately, many kinds of cancer can be prevented or detected early. Two-time breast cancer survivor and Real Housewives of New York cast member Bershan Shaw stopped by Street Politicians to give us insight on her life overcoming cancer and what she's done to support others fighting a similar battle. In addition, Old school hip-hop artist Kangol Kid joins this episode to speak about his current battle with colon cancer. Early detection can save lives, make sure you get screened!
